So I am pretty new to long boarding in general. I recently picked it up in the past 4 months or so. I made a deal with a guy to get a Sector 9 board. I rode it for 2 months getting comfortable and building up my confidence. I knew I needed to upgrade the wheels and bearings to get a better ride. I took the advice of a fellow long boarder to check out Motionboardshop.com. I am glad I did because the Bones Super Reds Bearings are kick a@%. They have a very smooth feel; they spin longer and easier than the ABEC 5's that were on the board. In short Reds Bearings have me long boarding farther and faster...hella easier. I got these for my nine two five in march. They had really good roll speed when I got them. I have noticed just a little bit of rust and a slight decrease in roll speed. I clean them regularly, but the cleaning doesn't seem to make much of a difference. I thought they were a bit pricy compared to the regular reds. Still, they hold up pretty well to rain. I ride them in the rain and slide through puddles until they're completely waterlogged. They are pretty damn durable compared to any of the abec rated bearings. I'v had these for about 5 months now and while these suckers are a bit expensive compared to similar ones, for someone that wants a smooth, durable, and quite bearings, these are FOR YOU. I'v ridden through miles and miles of wet weather from sprinklers to having my wheels completely covered from puddles. They stay working just as well as day one. You just need to learn how to properly take care of them, even with all my winter riding, there is not ONE speck of rust on any part of them, even if I wait a week after riding through the rain to clean them up. Honestly, I wouldn't buy them again unless they last me atleast a full year of riding, which they look like they will make that no problem. I will say I noticed a slight increase of speed compared to my old abec 3's but nothing to strive over. But if you really want a extremely smooth, quite, durable bearing, look no where else. So bones are good bearings, don't get me wrong. They have top notch quality control at an affordable price, plus some higher end bearings to boot. However, I personally don't see much of a benefit from upgrading from REDS to Super REDS for a few extra dollars. The ride is pretty much identical when I use them both in my 4pres when cruising. If you want to upgrade to a high end bearing fter getting sick of the same-old with REDS, go with some rock-in-ron's. Those are freakin' sweet. Definitely felt an increase in acceleration and rolling speed the first time I threw them in. (Posted on 12/14/10)
